Butter Wouldn’t Melt and now, it’s officially ours

My grandpa used to say, “Butter wouldn’t melt,” usually about a kid with an innocent little face who was almost certainly up to something.

My Nanna had another saying:

“There’s no such thing as can’t.”

I’ve carried both of those sayings with me and somehow, years later, they’ve come together in a way that feels incredibly special.

Butter Wouldn’t Melt is now officially ours.

What began as a phrase filled with childhood memories became a Stitch Nest design, then an entire collection, and now a registered trade mark that we are incredibly proud to call our own.

It’s cheeky kids with sweet little faces. Big personalities pretending they’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. The kind of mischief every parent recognises immediately.

But it also means something much bigger to me.

Building a collection from a nostalgic idea means hearing plenty of reasons why you can’t. It’s too hard. Someone else has probably already done it. You’re not experienced enough, big enough or ready enough.

Then someone at the trade marks office actually sat down and researched it. They searched to see whether it already existed, looked at how it belonged to our brand and recognised it as something distinctive enough to protect.

That part feels pretty bloody special.

A saying passed down from my grandpa became an idea, then a design, then a collection & now it has been officially recognised as ours - STITCH NEST!!!!!

So don’t listen to the people who tell you that you can’t.

Apply for the trade mark. Make the designs. Grow the collection. Start the business. Back your idea even if you’re the only person who can see what it might become.

Because my Nanna was right.

There really is no such thing as can’t.

And Butter Wouldn’t Melt is proof that you clearly can.
